Playground Design Approved, Event Pictures, Happy Holidays

Park Design Given Approval
Thanks to robust community input and support and thanks to a responsive Parks Department design, the plans for phase two (the playground) were approved at the October community board and November Public Design Commission meetings.

Now the construction documents get drawn up (a process already begun) and vetted by oversight boards, which brings us to June 2016, when bidding by construction companies begins, lasting 6-9 months. Shovels should hit the ground in March 2017 and constructions should take about a year.

It’s My Park Day Fun

Thanks to everyone who came out to celebrate and help clean up Gulick Park during October’s It’s My Park Day. Around 100 neighbors came by, many kids got to paint pumpkins–one veteran family brought their own smocks–bulbs went in the ground, and the park got a great winterizing clean up!

If you missed it on our facebook page, we’re happy to announce that Partnerships for Parks recognized us as an outstanding park group in Manhattan for our fundraising and programming efforts in 2014.

Next Year

Look forward to the return of our biannual It’s My Park Day clean ups, the summer movie series, and possibly a pop-up library. As always, we’ll keep you apprised of the renovation process. If you have any ideas for events or would like to help us out, please let us know! Enjoy the holiday season and have a happy new year!
