Take Back Our Park Day, 16 May 2010
Between 250-300 community members come out to share their opinions about Gulick Park and their ideas for its renovation. They do this through 6 activities designed to help capture their vision. Speaker Silver, Senator Squadron, Councilmember Chin, Borough President Stringer, and Congresswoman Maloney attended. There were also side-walk chalk and drawing areas for children, an area caricature artist, as well as an outdoor ping pong table.

Fall Bulb Planting, 7 Nov 2009
Over 40 neighbors met to plant tulip and daffodil bulbs we can enjoy in the spring. Thanks to all who came out and to Parks and Recreation for the bulbs and the tools.
Over 100 neighbors attended and met with our representatives, including Alan Gerson, Assembly Speaker Silver, Senator Squadron and others. Events included bike repair, face painting, origami lessons, a raffle and much planting.
The Lo-Down interviews a few members during our Community Day 2009 event.
A visual record of how the park has looked before The Friends of Gulick Park began
Thanks to the photo archivists at the NYC Department of Parks and Recreation and to Kate Louis from Partnerships for Parks for looking into this for us! These are images of the original park (then called Downing Park) under construction and a few images of the finished play room and basketball court. Some of the old vibrancy we hope to re-instill at Gulick Park and Playground.
