A Bathroom Grows in Gulick

It’s been a while since we’ve updated you on the state of Gulick Park. The comfort station construction continues at pace…even if that pace seems slow and sporadic at times. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Some picture updates are below.

Restroom Construction Begins Now

 

Today’s the day! Parks Department workers are setting up the fencing to cordon off the construction site for Gulick’s future comfort station.

The north side of the playground and the basketball courts will be closed down until construction finishes.

In the meantime, we hope that the other, larger play structure will remain

This autumn’s “It’s My Park Day”: a big success

Thank you to all who came out to our annual fall pumpkin painting and gardening day. We met a lot of new neighbors and saw some familiar faces. The park will look wonderful in the spring–as wonderful as the kids looked when they got their pumpkins and faces painted!

Groundbreaking at Sol Lain & Henry M Jackson

As we’ve noted before, our neighbor parks have received a lot of attention under Mayor DeBlasio’s “Community Parks Initiative.” The signs of which are already apparent at Sol Lain and Henry M Jackson parks, now fenced of and largely removed of their internal features.
