Speaker Silver allocates $1,000,000.
The good news continues to roll in for Gulick Park, bringing some sunshine in with the Spring!
Last time we wrote, we indicated that we still needed about $700,000 to cover the cost of the renovation. Well, not any more!
Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver has allocated $1,000,000, filling this gap and leaving a surplus that could cover overages during construction or be a downpayment on a future bathroom building.
Speaker Silver has long recognized the benefits of revamping and revitalizing his boyhood playground for the diverse community that surrounds it. We greatly appreciate his continued support.
We are incredibly excited that the entire renovation is fully funded and can move ahead as planned. If all goes smoothly, construction could begin by next autumn.
Come Celebrate on Sunday, May 18th:
This spring’s It’s My Park Day will celebrate 5 years of support and commitment from our neighbors and elected officials that will result in a beautiful new park!
From 1-4pm we will host a variety of activities: gardening, ping pong, a basketball clinic from Henry St Settlement, live music, food, and more! Details to follow!
