Design Trust Pot Luck

The Design Trust for Public Space has selected our park for its next pot luck, this Thursday 6/2 at 6pm. They try to choose a space with interesting features or back story. The DTPS was drawn here by the ping pong table and our visioning process (through the People Make Parks model).

From their Facebook page:

Join the Design Trust, Hester Street Collaborative and Friends of Gulick Park for a public space potluck in Luther Gulick Park. A Lower East Side fixture for some 70 years, this site is a throwback to the era of handball and hoops – and a true gathering place for the neighborhood’s diverse residents.

Though Gulick Park may lack some of the splashier amenities that define New York’s newest landscapes (seating options are limited,… bring your own blanket), it does boast a ping pong table. And not just any suburban basement model (or, you know, the one in the Design Trust office) – a sculptural Henge T40, emphatically designed to withstand the rigors of outdoor urban recreation.

We’ve got plates, cups, utensils, and paddles covered. Bring your friends, your A-game, a dish and/or drinks to share and trek to the outer fringes of the Lower East Side to hear local residents discuss their plans for activating this neighborhood space.

Transit: Subway – JMZ (Essex Street), F (Delancey or East Broadway)
