New York City Parks & Recreation’s designers have just shared with us proper image files of the redesign plans. The top image is the overall conceptual plan, below this is the plan for phase one. Note that phase one now, since our urging at the CB3 meeting, includes the final basketball court, a new play structure for kids, and a multigenerational exercise feature; the entire northern boarder of the park will be renovated. [Plans are subject to final review and approval by the New York City Public Design Commission.]
The Friends of Gulick Park are now advocating for funding of phase two, the new children’s playground site. (But remember that while phase one is under construction, the old playground will be open for use almost every day.)
