The scope meeting with NYC Parks & Rec designers and project managers this past Wednesday was a success. We reiterated the results of our visioning process from the last year, conveyed a few new bits of community opinion, and some neighbors came by to share their ideas. Representatives from Senator Squadron’s and Council Member Chin’s offices attended.
Images from the meeting (and the pot luck) are now up.
Now the Parks’ designers get working! Over the next 9 months they will come up with a schematic for the master plan and what a first phase of construction would look like, they will show this to us–The Friends of Gulick Park–then to the community board, then send it for final municipal review before acceptance. Then contracts for work will then be bidded out. It could be that construction on the first phase begins in September 2012. We’ll keep you posted of developments!
In the meantime, we will look to bring more programming to the park–let us know if you have anything in mind–and will continue to advocate for more capital funding from our elected representatives and the LMDC.
