$400,000 from Council Member Chin – Total now: $2.15M

New York City Council Member Margaret Chin has renewed and strengthened her support of the capital renovation of Luther Gulick Park & Playground by allocating an additional $400,000 in this year’s budget. We extend further thanks to Ms. Chin for being a strong supporter of our neighborhood’s green space and play space: the total from her office is now $950,000. We are happy to see that, in difficult budgetary times, Council Member Chin recognizes the importance of parks for enduring neighborhood betterment.

With the coming year’s budgets, Gulick Park’s renovation is now funded to about $2,150,000. This is more than NYC Parks & Recreation estimates the first phase of construction and design will cost. Renovations from the basketball courts west toward Bialystoker are now fully funded.

Our thanks, again, to all the elected representatives supporting the park and its renovation.

(We hear that good news might come soon from our application for Lower Manhattan Development Corporation grant money; we’ll let you know if this turns out to be true. Let’s hope!)
