Thank you for a great event

Thank you to all who came out last Sunday for It’s My Park Day. The park will look nicer in the spring thanks to everyone’s help and the Parks Department’s bulbs. Over 120 pumpkins were painted and many faces. About 400 people came through the park. City Council Member Margaret Chin stopped by, as did Zach Bommer from Speaker Silver’s office.

More pictures are here.

We’d also like to thank the city Parks department and Partnerships for Parks, who helped getting bulbs and tools; Van Houton Farms (at the Union Sq farmers’ market) for a discount on the pumpkins; the 7th Precinct Community Council for the tables; Ellen Einsbruch for agreeing last minute to face paint; Christy Burke for the PR blast; Council Member Chin and Speaker Silver’s office; and Annie Wachnicki of the New Museum for their activity; and, finally, Sam Huang from SPiN NY for ref’ing the tournament.

Look forward to another It’s My Park Day event in the spring–we’re working to bring different activities and more ping pong. We will also try to bring back a puppet theatre show.

Lastly, we should begin to hear back, in the next two months, from NYC Parks & Recreation’s design team about initial ideas and sketches. We’ll let you know as soon as we have something to bring back to the community.
