City Council Gives $500,000 in Funds

Councilmember Chin, with help from Mendez and Quinn, add to Phase 2 funds

I am excited to share that Gulick Park has received an additional $0.5 million in funding from the City Council, led by Councilmember Margaret Chin, with additional support from Councilmember Rosie Mendez and Council Speaker Christine Quinn.

This is an important first step in securing the funding needed to complete Phase 2 of the restoration of Gulick Park, featuring new play equipment and a new water feature.  This is the third grant that Councilmember Chin has secured for the Park and we appreciate her support and that of Councilmember Mendez and Speaker Quinn.

As you may recall, Phase 1 construction, which includes restoration of the western half of the park, as well as replacement of the basketball court, has been fully funded.

Additionally, I want to share that Assembly Speaker Silver has been working with the Department of Transportation to explore whether Gulick Park may be eligible for certain federal funding. We will keep you posted on any updates.
