Design Workshop Success
The design workshop last Wednesday was a great success. Many good ideas were brought to the table. The Parks Department’s designers commented that what they heard was useful and informative. Representatives from Sheldon Silver’s office and Margaret Chin’s office also attended. All good things. Thank you to everyone who made time to participate Wednesday or at our visioning events in the past!
We’ll post the synopsis of results shortly on our Web site along with maps and images.
Both The Lo-Down and DNAinfo covered the event. Please head over to our images and press page.
Hester Street Collaborative Benefit Party
Finally, we want to mention that The Hester Street Collaborative has their benefit event (think cocktail party with DJ) this Thursday evening. The details on their site.
The HSC has been essential to the workshop and much of our visioning process for the past year. They do great work in the neighborhood, from helping communities redesign their parks, to helping people create art in public spaces, to leading educational programs. Among other things, the funky maps and rolling benches in the Allen St mall, the lanterns in Sarah D park, and the school garden program at PS 134 just down the block from our park, are all thanks to The Hester Street Collaborative working with schools and community groups in our area.
We hope to keep our partnership with HSC going into the future, maybe collaborating to bring arts and education events or classes to Gulick Park during redesign & renovation and beyond.
